Draft day has arrived once again! Will we hear the trademark boos rain down when Silver walks out or will his honeymoon continue? Who will wear the loudest tie or have the corniest patch sewn into his jacket? Have the NBA started producing comically oversized hats to avoid another Bebe Nogueira situation? These are the burning questions and all shall be answered before too long.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed digging into this draft class and feel confident saying that the first round crop looks deep. The lottery should produce more than a couple of stars and steals in the late first and early second are there to be had. There is a significant fall off after around the top 40 prospects but that’s not particularly out of the ordinary. Big point guards and shooting big men seem to be the primary themes in this class, which is somewhat appropriate given the amorphous, positionless team we just saw win the title. If the league is arriving in an era of playmaking at every position and switching every pick and roll, this wave of talent should fit right in.
