The Portland Trail Blazers got a huge win tonight beating the Sacramento Kings 101-89. All was good, right? Not really.
Nicolas Batum totaled 18 minutes, went 0-for-1 from the floor, and played with a very heavy heart tonight.
Batum’s mother and sister were scheduled to arrive in Portland from France around 8:30 pm tonight for a visit like they seldom do, but the Washington D.C. immigration officials only allowed his sister to enter and detained his mother stating she lied about having a visa.
Batum says his mother has visited him before and he doesn’t quite know what all happened at this point. He says his mother has never lied about anything and it was all just a miscommunication somewhere because this has never happened before.
“I was so worried. My mom doesn’t speak English well and they were cursing at her and threatening to put her in jail,” Batum told CSNNW.com. “I was checking my phone at halftime and there was nothing. I found out that they sent her and my sister back to France after the game.”
