Not sure when the last time was that I’ve been so impressed with a Portland Trail Blazer player as I’ve been with Jamal Crawford.
And I’m not talking about his 26 points and five assists from last night, either. I’m talking about the guy’s reputation for character and integrity.
When the Blazers made the free-agent deal for him, I was immediately told by several long-time friends in Seattle that this man is the real deal. “You’re going to love him,” they said. “Portland will fall in love with him.”
Crawford is legendary in Seattle for his good deeds. And for being one very kind human being. But just this weekend, I was reminded of the difference between charity work — which is great — and going the extra mile when the cameras are turned off.
