Official Pinwheel Empire Prediction Thread

With the season opener 13 days away, it’s about time for NBA fans everywhere to start making baseless and usually horribly inaccurate predictions. So here it is, your opportunity to earn infinite internet swag points by correctly guessing something irrelevant to 99% of the population at large.

The following categories should start you off, but please, feel free to add in any other important predictions you may have afterwards. Enter any or all categories, depending on how much predictive capacity you think you have.

1. Beginners Division

a. Who will be the champs this season?

b. Who will have the best record in the NBA, and what will it be? (Chicago’s 62 wins in 10/11 would equate to 50 wins in 66 games.)

c. Who will have the worst record in the NBA, and what will it be? (Minnesota’s 17 wins in 10/11 would equate to 14 wins in 66 games.)

d. Who will be the MVP?

e. Who will be the ROY?

2. Blazers Specific Division

a. What will the Blazers record be this year? (Last year’s 48 wins would equate to a 39 wins in the shortened 11/12 season.)

b. Will the Blazers make the playoffs?

c. Will the Blazers make it past the 1st round and if so, how far will they go?

d. Who will lead the team in scoring? (10/11 - LaMarcus at 21.8 PPG)

e. Who will lead the team in assists? (10/11 - Andre Miller at 7)

f. Who will lead the team in rebounds? (10/11 - Marcus Camby at 10.3)

g. Who will lead the team in blocks? (10/11 – Marcus Camby at 1.6)

h. Who will lead the team in steals? (10/11 – Crash at 2)

i. Who will be the Blazers’ most valuable reserve?

j. Who will be the Blazers’ most valuable rookie/soph? (Nolan, Elliot, Armon, Babbitt, CJ, Foote (?) all qualify)

k. Who will be this year’s whipping boy?

l. Who will be the Blazers’ MVP?

3. Intermediate Division

a. Which team will have the biggest increase in wins? (10/11 – Bulls with a 21 game improvement)

b. Which team will have the biggest decrease in wins? (10/11 – Cavaliers with a 42 game slide)

c. Which two teams will make the NBA finals?

d. Who will be Finals MVP?

e. Who will be the DPOY?

f. Who will be the MIP

g. Who will lead the league in scoring? (10/11 - Kevin Durant at 27.7 PPG)

h. Who will lead the league in assists? (10/11 - Steve Nash at 11.4)

i. Who will lead the league in rebounding? (10/11 - Kevin Love at 15.2)

k. Who will lead the league in blocks? (10/11 - Andrew Bogut at 2.6)

l. Who will lead the league in steals? (10/11 - Chris Paul at 2.3)

m. Who will lead the league in FG%? (10/11 - Nene at 61.5%)

n. Who will lead the league in FT%? (10/11 – Steph Curry at 93.4%)

o. Who will make the most threes? (10/11 – Dorell Wright with 194)

 

4. Advanced (stats) Division

a. Who will lead the league in PER? (10/11 – LeBron at 27)

b. Who will lead the league in TS%? (10/11 - Tyson Chandler at 69.7%)

c. Who will lead the league in in TRB%? (10/11 – Kevin Love at 23.6%)

d. Who will lead the league in AST%? (10/11 – Steve Nash at 53.1%)

e. Who will lead the league in STL%? (10/11 – Tony Allen at 4.5%)

f. Who will lead the league in BLK%? (10/11 – JaVale McGee at 6.7%)

g. Who will lead the league in TOV%? (10/11 – Rajon Rondo at 24.3%)

h. Who will lead the league in win shares? (10/11 – LeBron with 15.6)

i. Which team will lead the league in pace? (10/11 – Timberwolves at 96.5)

j. Which team will be last in the league in pace? (10/11 – Blazers at 87.9)

k. Which team will lead the league in ORtg?  (10/11 – Nuggets at 112.3)

l. Which team will lead the league in DRtg? (10/11 – Bulls at 100.3)

5. Personnel division

a, Who will be the first head coach fired this season?

b. Who will be the first GM fired this season?

c. Who will be the first disgruntled player to request a trade? (Excluding CP3/Dwight)

d. Who will be the first rookie sent to the D-League this season?

e. Who will be the first D-League call up of the season?

 

6. Hardcore Bonus Division

a. Guess the records of all 30 NBA teams. (Total wins plus total losses should add up to 1980 (66×30) with 990 wins and 990 losses)

b. Complete a full playoff bracket based on the playoff teams you guessed above.

c. Guess the members of the All-Star teams for both conferences, broken down by starters and reserves.

d. Guess the members of the Rookie/Sophmore teams.

e. Guess the members of the All-NBA 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams.

f. Guess the members of the NBA All-Defensive 1st and 2nd teams.

g. Guess the members of the NBA All-Rookie 1st and 2nd teams.

 

There ya go, a wasted afternoon just waiting to happen.
